Our Activities
Welcome to our Activities page, where you can explore the various activities/projects we offer here at Choice & Harmony. Our activities encompass a wide range of skill sets, from arts and crafts to everyday life skills, providing diverse range of opportunities for all our service users no matter their capability range.
We invite you to peruse the gallery and witness first-hand the creativity and learning that takes place here at our centre.

Cooking
Choice and Harmony offer its 1 to 1 service users a chance to engage and develop their existing cooking skills with the help of their staff member, with a 6-week food rota. A handful of recipes are sent home and all we ask is for the service users to bring ingredients from home and the Centre will provide the rest! From chopping to peeling to cooking a whole range of skills are being tested with every meal!
Therapy dogs
Everyone knows the saying, a dog is a man’s best friend…well some dogs are specifically trained to help adults with more than just companionship. They are trained to help us as humans with a wide range of things, including helping those with disabilities. Here at the centre we have been fortunate enough to be able to collaborate with a trainer and her fully licensed therapy dog/s and offer out sessions to our service users. Allowing them the same opportunity others may have outside the centre settings.

Relaxation
Sometimes life can be stressful. It's not always the big things, but the little things in life that can cause stress. We at Choice and Harmony want our service users to know that we understand their lives can be just as stressful as ours. So, we offer a relaxation class, with candle lights, relaxing music and breathing exercises to calm the soul. Sometimes it works so well that we have had service users peacefully fall into a gentle sleep!!
Accessing the community
Accessing the community is a large part of what we offer here at Choice & Harmony. From swimming with our 1:1s, bowling, pub lunches, days out using their bus passes, to things as simple as going for a walk round our local park. We always try to encourage our service users to partake in accessing the community to help push themselves outside of their comfort zone, in a safe and secure way. Allowing them to work on their own personal social skills, not only with others within the centre but outside in the community as well.

Lad's Day
Lads' day has proven to be very successful within the centre - sometimes it's just what the doctor ordered. The lads are offered the chance to go play pool or darts or sometimes even crazy golf with not a girl in sight (well maybe a staff member or two). As essential as it is to develop motor skills, social skills can be just as important as this allows for male friendships to grow and form.
Ladies Day
Couldn't forget about our ladies at the centre! With Lads' Day proving to be such a success we wanted to provide the ladies with the same opportunities. So, the ladies are offered a pamper day. Magazines, foot spas, manicures and pedicure with the occasional gossip with the staff. A relaxing day for all the ladies and a chance to stop, unwind and catch up with friends within the centre.

Walk through time
A walk-through time, an activity where service users literally walk through time and learn about our past. From Cavemen, to Vikings to the present day each time period comes with a fun activity as well as fun facts for service users to sink their teeth into. Allowing them to become a real historian with a very special reward at the end of the project for all their hard work.
